Three people were transported to Washington County Hospital following a collision on U.S. 40 near Md. 66 Friday night, police said.

Terry Stouffer, chief of the Mt. Aetna Volunteer Fire Department, said a car broad-sided a minivan in front of Deer Park Lodge shortly after 11 p.m.

Two people who were in the van and one person who was in the car were taken to the hospital, Stouffer said. The extent of their injuries were not known.

U.S. 40 was closed to traffic for about 45 minutes after the accident. One lane was reopened just before midnight.
