Public skips hearing on air quality

May 09, 2003|by TARA REILLY

No Washington County residents turned out for a public hearing Thursday night on state and county efforts to improve air quality.

The hearing was held at the Washington County Administrative Annex at 80 W. Baltimore St.

Maryland Department of the Environment and county officials are working to improve air quality by reducing ozone pollution through an Early Action Compact.

The compact would contain a list of steps Washington County would follow to clean the air. It would also free the county from following more stringent federal clean air requirements.
