Supporters of Dean to meet at Borders

Supporters of Howard Dean for U.S. President in 2004 will meet today at 7 p.m. at Borders Books & Music, 17636 Garland Groh Blvd. in Hagerstown.

Dean, a physician and the former governor of Vermont, is running for the Democratic Party nomination. The meet-up will set an agenda and action steps for raising awareness of Dean's campaign, his record and where he stands on the issues.

Workshop to be held on abuse prevention

BOONSBORO - A Mending Creation workshop on prevention of child sexual abuse will be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at St. Mark's Episcopal Church at 18313 Lappans Road near Boonsboro.


The workshop will be led by Sherry McCall Ross, diocesan youth missioner. Under diocesan policy, all those employed by the diocese of Maryland or one of its parishes must attend a Mending Creation workshop within the first six months of service, and repeat the workshop every five years.

In addition to all paid church workers, all people - paid or volunteer - regularly working in ministries with young people are required to attend the workshop within their first six months of ministry and repeat every five years.

Sunday school teachers are not required to attend the training bur are urged to participate.
