County sets Tuesday hearing on budget

The Washington County Commissioners will hold a public hearing Tuesday night on the proposed $138.6 million budget for fiscal year 2004, which begins on July 1.

The hearing will be held at 7 p.m. at Hagerstown Community College's Kepler Theater.

The proposed budget, which is $4.9 million more than the current budget of $133.7 million, includes a $2.9 million increase for the Washington County Board of Education.

The commissioners have said they do not intend to raise taxes for the next fiscal year.
