Gene T. Randall


Gene T. "Jim" Randall, 72, of Hagerstown, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at his home.

Born July 3, 1930, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Cecil P. Randall Sr. and Venola B. King Randall.

He attended local schools.

He retired in 1985 from the Chessie Railroad, where he worked as a carman for more than 37 years.

He served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He received the Purple Heart.

He was a member of Virginia Avenue Church of God in Hagerstown.

He was a member of Redmen Club of Williamsport, Morris Frock Post 42 and Western Enterprise Fire Co. of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Helen V. Mills Randall; one son, Michael G. Randall of Hagerstown; one sister, Phyllis M. Fridinger of Hagerstown; two grandsons; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Cecil P. Randall.

Services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at Virginia Avenue Church of God, Hagerstown. The Rev. Paul A. Harne will officiate. Burial will be in Parkhead Cemetery, Big Pool with full military honors by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42. Pastor Don Stevenson will officiate.

Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, 305 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.

Judith B. Reed


FREMONT, N.C. - Judith B. Reed, 51, of Sleepy Hollow Road, died Thursday, May 1, 2003, at Wayne Memorial Hospital.

She was the daughter of the late Kenneth Miller Boswell Sr. and Edna Lucille Staub Boswell.

She was a 1969 graduate of Waynesboro, Pa., Area Senior High School.

She was an instructor for Slim and Trim Diet Classes in Pikeville, N.C.

She was a member of International Order of Job's Daughters, National Realtors Association and served Wayne County, N.C. as a Notary Public.

She is survived by her husband, Guy D. Reed; three children, Bryan K. de Reyna of New Bern, N.C., Amy E. Hendrix of Fremont and Matthew G. Reed of Greenville, N.C.; one sister, Bonnie V. Hose of Martinsburg, W.Va.; one brother, Kenneth M. Boswell Jr. of Waynesboro; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be Monday at 3 p.m. at Shackleford Funerals and Cremations, Fremont.

The family will receive friends Monday at 2 p.m. at the funeral home.




Anna E. Green


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Anna E. "Betty" Green, 81, of 945 Stouffer Ave., died Friday, May 2, 2003, at her home.

Born March 6, 1922, in Johnstown, Pa., she was the daughter of the late William and Bessie Bellock Rouzer.

She retired as receptionist from Andrews Photography Studio in Chambersburg.

She was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church in Chambersburg.

She was a member of Chambersburg Mall Walkers.

She is survived by her husband, Raymond W. Green, whom she married April 27, 1946; two daughters, Marcia Seiders of Fayetteville, Pa. and Lu Ann Nuckels of Chambersburg; two sisters, Verna Miller of Johnstown, Pa. and Sarah Andrews of Chambersburg; two brothers, Alex Rouzer of Chambersburg and John Rouzer of Fayetteville; one granddaughter; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by sisters, brothers and one grandson.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg. The Rev. A. Robert Cook will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends Monday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home.

Phyllis G. Schaeffer


QUINCY, Pa. - Phyllis G. Green Schaeffer, 79, of 804-A Quincy Village and formerly of 8246 Ingleton Circle, Easton, Md., died Friday, May 2, 2003, at Chambersburg Hospital.

Born March 3, 1924, in Ballston, Va., she was the daughter of the late Rev. J. Leas and Carrie Mathews Green.

She received a degree in education from Western Maryland College, Westminster, Md.

She was a mathematics and English teacher in the Baltimore and Westminster school districts.

She was a member of Quincy United Methodist Church.

She was a member of Waynesboro Country Club and a former member of Miles River Yacht Club.

She is survived by her husband of 56 years, C. Russell Schaeffer Jr.; two sons, John K. Schaeffer of Newbury, Calif. and Russell Schaeffer III of Palmdale, Calif.; one sister, Rachel Marsey of Shrewsbury, Pa.; one grandson; nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Joan L. Sawyer.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. Pastor Ruth A. Hollister will officiate. Burial will follow in Krider's Church Cemetery, Westminster.

There will be no public viewing; however, the family will receive friends Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.
