Mail Call for 5/2

May 03, 2003

"My name is Mike and I went to North High and graduated in 1988 and I want to know when our next reunion is. My number is 301-766-0721."

"I am calling about the raising of the parking fee in downtown. How is this going to help the students at the new college and how is this going to help the businesses downtown? This is going to drive the people away from downtown and the businesses are the ones that are going to suffer."

"To the person who called in about the sassafras tea. Well, go to the mountains and find yourself a small sassafras tree and cut it off, then let the part you cut off dry out and then you can make your tea. My father used to sell this years ago when I was a little girl."

"I want to know when the yard sale is going to be on Lehigh Avenue in North Colonial Drive. I know it is sometime in May, but please put the exact date."

"I have a question pertaining to the Hagerstown Suns baseball team in Hagerstown. Who pays for the light bill, do they pay for that, or do the citizens of Hagerstown?"

"I got two patches of moss in my front yard and I wanted to know how to rid of it. Do I use lime or what?"

"Can someone leave information regarding the class reunion for North High 1973? Thank you."

"I read in the paper where someone wanted to know when we start turf bowling. We start Turf bowling on May 6, at Pangborn Park at 6:30 p.m."

"I just heard on TV that they are going to raise property taxes. Where are the people who are on fixed income supposed to get this money? If they would have passed the slot machines for Maryland, like they should have, then this wouldn't be necessary. This is a lot better than raising property taxes. I think it's about time to vote these clowns out of office."

"Here is a thank you for a special Tim for a huge laugh of the day. I just read his 'What's cooking at Yard Sales' and it's all so true. Thanks again, Tim, and keep us thinking and laughing."

"This is a concerned citizen in the Hagerstown area. There was just an accident on Washington Street, right on the corner of Resh Road. I just wanted to let you councilman know that if you would put a traffic light there, then we wouldn't have all these accidents. To the city, when are you going to start fixing these sidewalks here on Concord Street?"

"The We Care Neighborhood Watch Group will have its next meeting on Tuesday, May 6, at 6 p.m. for officers meeting, and 6:30 p.m., for the member meeting."

"I have been reading different articles in the paper concerning teachers at North and South High that are being charged with assault. I was curious what to do when you go to an elementary school to volunteer and you see an administrator grab children, pick them up over their shoulder and force them to sit down? Who should I contact about that, because to me that would be assault also?"
