LEXINGTON, Ky. - Pinch hitter Ryan Coshen drove in the winning run in the bottom of the eighth to lead the Lexington Legends to a 2-1 win over the Hagerstown Suns on Friday in the South Atlantic League.

Justin Humphries led off the Lexington eighth with a single to center field off Suns reliever Scott Munter (1-2). Wilner Alvarez came on to run for Humphries and moved to second on a sacrifice bunt.

Suns manager Mike Ramsey brought in left-hander Jason Waddell to face the left-handed hitting Dustin Hawkins, but Lexington manager Russ Nixon countered by sending Coshen, a righty, to bat for Hawkins.

The move paid off when Coshen singled up the middle to score Alvarez.

Hagerstown had a chance in the top of the ninth with Derin McMains at second and Fred Lewis at third with one out, but the Suns weren't able to tie the score.

The Legends took a 1-0 lead in the seventh when Pat Peavey connected for a solo home run off Munter.

Hagerstown tied it in the top of the eighth. Carlos Sosa walked, stole second and scored on Randy Walter's base hit off the left-field wall. Walter was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a double.

Jailen Peguero (1-3) went eight-plus innings for the Legends to get the win.

Matt Cain pitched five scoreless innings for the Suns, striking out five and walking one.
