Mail call for 5/1

May 02, 2003

"We are ARC of Washington County and have a recycling program here. We would very much like to have the aluminum cans that were being offered in Mail Call. Our number is 301-797-2230."

"Can anyone tell me how to get rid of spiders and centipedes? I have them in my rec room area and they always seem to go to one area of the room. I set those little sticky traps out and catch them, but I just don't know why they are drawn to one particular spot."

"I want to make a comment about the pictures and article in the paper about South High's prom. No seniors were pictured and some of them pictured already graduated from high school. Also pictured were freshmen and sophomores who were invited to the prom by the seniors. No seniors were mentioned, no prom king or queen was mentioned. I am concerned because you were supposed to be representing the senior prom, not ones that are going to go to their prom in three years."

"I am having a terrible time with big black spiders in my basement. Can someone tell me what to do to get rid of them? I have tried to use the different things on the market for killing them and it doesn't work. Someone told me that ammonia or Clorox would work, but I wouldn't know what to do with it if I tried it. Someone call in and let me know what I should do."

"Sister city with the French. Tell them to keep their wine. We don't need any of their offerings and we don't need their sister city."

"A question for you people who think that the French are such good friends and that we should cater to them. If they are such good friends, why did they pass information to the enemy before we went into war with Iraq? They aren't friends, they are only there when they need us. The only true friends that we have are Britain, Australia, Italy and Spain, that is about it. Friends are hard to find except when you have money to give them."

"I am a supporter of President Bush and I think what we did in Iraq was the right thing to do. But now that we have done what we set out to do, let's get all our troops out of the Middle East and let them fight against themselves. Leave them alone and they will come begging us to come back after everyone starts picking on each other."

"In response to the person about the NASCAR race in California and saying that it was not printed in the paper. It was printed on Saturday and it was printed in an article about Steve Parks getting the pole for the first time in a couple years. It didn't have the full starting lineup, but it had the first five. So it was printed in The Herald-Mail paper and I just wanted to make that clear and make sure that the paper isn't getting put down because I think they are doing a great job."

"Concerning the bus drivers planning a sick day on the last two days of school. Yes, we are planning a sick day, the last two days. We as a group feel that we deserve those two days and our employer isn't giving them to us so we are just going to take them on our own. As for the kids, where there is a will, there is a way."

"To the person about the so- called filthy rap music. Come on, I am a teen, don't you think that we haven't heard those kind of words before or ever will hear them in our life? Come on, get something else to complain about."

"We want Kim Huffer to know we are pleased with her race in the Boston Marathon, finishing the 26.2-mile race in 4 hours, 8 minutes. Your Boonsboro fans."
