Franklin County hosts business expo

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - The fourth annual Franklin County Business Expo will be held Tuesday from noon until 7 p.m. at the Greencastle Special Events Center on South Washington Street.

The event is free to any business person with a business card and will feature more than 25 Franklin County businesses, service organizations and schools. The businesses will be showcasing their new products and services.

Several Franklin County caterers will serve food samples throughout the day, according to a news release. The theme of the event is Taste of Franklin County.

Lead sponsors for the event are Antrim Way Honda, Franklin County Area Development Corp. and The Phillips Group. Other sponsors include Blondie's Catering, Dame Broadcasting, Electrolinear Entertainment and Meadow Larke Party Shoppe.

Candidates forum set in Fulton County

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - The Fulton County (Pa.) Farm Bureau will host a candidates forum on May 8 at 6:30 p.m. in the Fulton County National Bank's Fulton Theatre.

Forty-seven candidates for county and township offices have been invited to the event

Questions from community residents are being gathered to pose to the candidates, while those in attendance also will be able to submit questions.

The public is invited.

Refreshments will be served following the event.

Day of Prayer service today in Martinsburg

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - The Berkeley County Ministerial Association will host a prayer service in observance of the National Day of Prayer at noon today in the plaza of the Martinsburg-Berkeley County Public Library on West King Street.

The public is welcome to participate in the informal service of prayer and hymns, according to Carolyn Hipkins, chairwoman of the ministerial service's worship committee.

National Day of Prayer is observed in communities throughout the nation on the first Thursday in May.

Life march slated for May 10 in W.Va.

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Support of Life march will be held in downtown Charles Town on Saturday, May 10.

The march will start at 9:30 a.m. at the front lawn of St. James Catholic Church, 311 S. George St., proceed to Washington Street, and return, organizers said.

All are invited to participate in the event. Refreshments will be served after the march.

Historical society elects new officers

HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Ken Keebaugh was elected Fulton County (Pa.) Historical Society president Tuesday night at the group's annual meeting. He will succeed Clem Malot.

Dick Miller was elected vice president; Dwight Harvey was elected secretary and Jane MacDonald was elected treasurer.
