Suns lose road game to Lexington

LEXINGTON, Ky. - Steve Checksfield hit a grand slam to highlight a five-run fourth inning to lead the Lexington Legends to a 10-4 win Wednesday over the Hagerstown Suns in the South Atlantic League.

Checksfield's shot to left field opened up what had been a 2-1 game. Justin Hawkins added an RBI single in the inning.

Dayton Buller provided the majority of the pop for Hagerstown (11-14), driving in three runs with a single and a two-run homer, his first.

Travis Ishikawa also hit his first home run of the season for the Suns, who play two more games in Lexington before returning home Saturday for a doubleheader against the Kannapolis Intimidators.

The first game of the doubleheader will be the continuation a game suspended due to rain the first time Kannapolis was in Hagerstown. The Intimidators lead the game, 2-0.

Hagerstown and Kannapolis will also play a doubleheader on Monday. All of the doubleheader games will be seven innings.

All tickets for the regularly scheduled games on Saturday and Monday will be good for both games on those days.
