FREDERICK, Md. - Matt Hokanson of Centreville, Md., has become production manager at Love & Co., a research, marketing, advertising and public relations agency in Frederick.

He works with the agency's creative team and outside vendors and is responsible for coordinating competitive print bidding and scheduling and monitoring the production of each project.




City Lights


Greg Farmer has joined the staff of City Lights of Hagerstown.

Farmer, who has 13 years experience in electrical and lighting distribution, works in the new light and bath showroom.




40 West Auto Care


FREDERICK, Md. - 40 West Auto Care in Frederick is one of five towing companies in North America designated by AAA as "Highway Heroes" for 2003.

Winners were recognized for outstanding service to members, their communities and AAA.

Chris Healy, a driver at 40 West Auto Care, received the Governor's Victim Assistance Award at a ceremony April 10 in Columbia, Md. Healy received the award for an incident in January in which a AAA member was in need and had been the victim of a crime.

CUMBERLAND, Md. - Rocky Gap Resort has announced the appointment of three people to positions at the resort.

Jan Huber has been named director of food and beverage, Michelle Edwards has been named catering sales manager and Lucille "Taffy" Rice has been named sales manager.

Lisa Melcher of Sharpsburg recently joined a local office of the financial-services firm Edward Jones as a branch office administrator.

Melcher must complete the firm's training program within six months to graduate from the trainee designation into the position of branch office administrator.




Franklin County Career & Technology Center


STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Patricia M. Domenick, certified school nurse at the Franklin County Career & Technology Center, recently attended the state conference of the Pennsylvania Association of School Nurses and Practitioners in State College.

The event, titled "Bridging the Gap: Health and Education," took place March 21-23 and was attended by more than 300 school health professionals from across the commonwealth.

In addition, Domenick attended continuing professional education sessions on the Fundamentals of Disaster Planning, Designer Drugs of the New Millennium and Paws for Peace, a bullying prevention program.




SmartStyle Family Hair Salon


Jodi Whittington, salon manager at SmartStyle Family Hair Salon, was honored with Regis Corp.'s Directors' Award.

Whittington won an all-expense-paid, four-day trip to San Francisco for the salon's overall performance and outstanding sales achievements.

Peggy Neef of D.M. Bowman Inc. will be featured in a nationwide advertisement/commercial for Monster.com.

Neef, along with other drivers from other companies, will represent the good of the trucking industry.

The ad is an apology to the trucking industry from Monster.com for its stereotypical and negative commercial seen during this year's Super Bowl.

Neef, of Cumberland, Md., is a professional driver for D.M. Bowman Inc. who has driven more than 425,000 miles.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Rodney Clark, owner of Clark Photography in Waynesboro was honored at the recent Professional Photographers' Association of Pennsylvania's Annual Convention in Harrisburg, Pa.

Clark received the President's Award for Dedicated Service. The award is given by the current president to a member who performed outstanding service.

Clark and his wife, Vickie Clark, received Awards of Excellence for photographs entered in the annual print competition.




American Clinical Laboratory Association


Alan Mertz, executive vice president of the Healthcare Leadership Council, is leaving that position to become president of the American Clinical Laboratory Association.

Mertz began his tenure at the Leadership Council in 1998 and in 1999 was promoted to executive vice president.
