Roundup - Catoctin lowers boom on South

Will Delawter threw a complete game, allowing one run on four hits and striking out eight as Catoctin routed South Hagerstown 16-1 in the Monocacy Valley Athletic League on Friday.

Delawter added two hits, including a three-run double in the third inning. Danny Novak had three hits and Chad Wolfe added two for the Cougars (10-4, 10-4).

South (9-5, 9-5) falls out of a second-place tie with Catoctin in the conference.

No. 3 Waynesboro 6, West Perry 2

ELLIOTTSBURG, Pa. - Eric Kauffman hit a solo home run for Waynesboro as the Indians defeated West Perry.

James Woodring had two hits and Brian Lisko drove in two runs for Waynesboro (11-3, 9-2).

Beckley (W.Va.) 9, No. 5 Jefferson 3

COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. - Justin Dailey and Adam Ketzel each had two hits and an RBI for Jefferson (18-7) as the Cougars lost to Beckley (11-5).

Biglerville 4, No. 7 Greencastle 1

BIGLERVILLE, Pa. - Biglerville jumped out to a four-run lead through three innings which Greencastle could not overcome and the Blue Devils suffered their second loss in Mid-Penn Colonial play.

Dane Davis had an RBI single in the loss for Greencastle (11-4, 9-2).

North 12, Brunswick 3

BRUNSWICK, Md. - T.J. Hose hit a grand slam and a two-run double in North Hagerstown's victory.

Matt Tedrick had two hits, including a home run, while Orland Dean had three hits. Trevor Hullinger, Matt Murray, Matt Ridenour and Kyle Robinson all added two hits for the Hubs (7-7).

Blaine Keyser and Tommy Blumenauer each had two hits for the Railroaders (5-8).

Smithsburg 12, Middletown 4

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - David Gouff had four hits, including two doubles, and added four RBI as Smithsburg stormed past Middletown in the MVAL.

Brandon Fisher had two hits and two RBI, while winning pitcher Ryan Marquiss added two hits for the Leopards (5-6, 5-6).

Walkersville 12, FSK 2

WALKERSVILLE, Md. - Ray Dorsey had a solo home run and a bases-loaded triple to lead Walkersville past Francis Scott Key.

Luke Bedard had two hits and three RBI, Tyler Redick and Danny Leatherman each had two hits and two RBI, while Cole Kidwell had six strikeouts for the Lions (6-5).

Rocky Mount 9, Goretti 0

TARBORO, N.C. - Phil Dorsey's single in the third inning was the only hit for St. Maria Goretti as Rocky Mount Academy defeated the Gaels (3-10).

Shalom 18, Highland View 3

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Evan Negley and Zach Gibenes both hit two-run home runs for Shalom Christian.

Brian Collins and Kenny Turpen had two hits apiece for Highland View (2-3).

Shalom 17, Highland View 3

Winning pitcher Zack Garnes had two hits, including a two-run home run in the fifth inning, to lead Shalom Christian Academy past Highland View Academy.

Shalom (6-0) scored nine consecutive runs in the fifth to put the game out of reach. Brett Frey had three hits, while Josh Tracy and Denver Martin added two hits each.

MIDDLETOWN, Md. - Erin Burtner had two hits and scored both runs for Middletown.

Andrea Riner struck out eight and walked three, while Jessica Metzner had two hits for the Knights (8-3).

Julie Weaver had two hits for Smithsburg.

FREDERICK, Md. - April Przygocki's single scored Kara Roberts in the ninth inning as Frederick handed North Carroll its first loss of the season.

Amber Bakner went 2-for-3 and Noelle Jones struck out seven and walked one for the Cadets (7-4, 6-4).

Mechanicsburg 7, No. 10 Waynesboro 2

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Paige Tanner and Heather Small drove in a run each for the Maidens (7-7) in a loss to Mechanicsburg.

Williamsport 4, Boonsboro 2

BOONSBORO - Amber Taylor's two-run single and Heather Taylor's RBI single in the seventh inning lifted Williamsport past Boonsboro in the MVAL.

Taylor had two hits, while Courtney Hutchinson struck out six and walked two en route to the victory for the Wildcats.

Andrea Changuris had two hits and an RBI for the Warriors.

Broadfording 12, Goretti 2

Dee Brown and Leslie Brown had two hits and three RBI apiece for Broadfording as the Lions defeated Goretti in a game played Thursday.

CVCS 17, Broadfording 4

Tessa Armstrong went 4-for-4 with a home run and drove in six runs for Cumberland Valley Christian in a game played Thursday.

Melanie Payne went 5-for-5 with three RBI for CVCS.

Broadfording 9, Calvary 8

Taylor Shafer hit the game-winning home run as Broadfording rallied with four runs in the seventh inning to defeat Calvary Christian.

Shafer finished the game with four hits and two RBI, while Dee Brown had a solo homer in the third inning. Morgan Brown had three hits and drove in a run, Cindel Young added two hits and two RBI and Jessica Biddle had a two-run triple as part of the seventh-inning rally for the Lions (5-1).

Hancock 12, South. Fulton 1

WARFORDSBURG, Pa. - Hancock managed just six hits but drew 20 walks to help manufacture 12 runs and the Panthers defeated Southern Fulton.

Heather Kleinfelter had two hits in the victory for Hancock.

Bethany Mellott and Jenny Liggett had two hits each for the Indians (4-5).
