Constructive caregiving


FREDERICK, Md. - Families Plus! will offer "Positive Parenting: Constructive Caregiving" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday, April 28, at Thurmont Elementary School, 805 E. Main St. The workshop is free.

The workshop will be led by Wendy Gill, school counselor at Twin Ridge Elementary School, and Jill Goodman, school counselor at Thurmont Elementary School.

Parents and caregivers will learn positive ways to guide children into positive behaviors, with less stress for all.

The program is co-sponsored by Families Plus! and the Frederick County Public Schools' Counseling/School Support Services. Child Care Choices continued training credit is available to Maryland child-care providers.

Empowering girls


FREDERICK, Md. - Families Plus! will offer "Cliques and Belonging: Helping Girls Survive Playground Politics" from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 30, at North Frederick Elementary School, 1001 Motter Ave. The workshop is free.

Laura Jones and Susan Cox, school counselors at Carroll Manor Elementary School will help parents and caregivers explore the issue of cliques and how to best help girls deal with this unpleasant side of popularity.
