Rollins named Youth of the Month

A junior at North Hagerstown High School on Tuesday was named Youth of the Month for March by the Washington County Commissioners.

Eric Rollins, son of John and Angie Rollins of Hagerstown, was nominated by Mary Ellen Waltemire of Washington County 4-H.

Eric is a teen leader and works with younger youth and his peers at the Washington County Boys & Girls Clubs' Pennsylvania Avenue branch. He serves as the Boys & Girls Clubs' Character Counts! coordinator and preteen coordinator.

He is involved in youth/adult partnership initiatives through the Washington County 4-H Youth Development Program and has helped secure school transportation with County Commuter for North High students.

Eric also is part of the Youth Leadership Institute Program, is the choir director for his church, part of North High's Student Government Association and active in the Leo Club.

"Eric is an incredible teen who is committed to teaching and helping others by being a positive role model and mentor," Waltemire wrote in the nomination. "Eric is an asset to his community and is truly an accomplished young man and has great potential for making a difference as he continues to live and be active in Washington County."
