Specialized Communications

Andrew P. Hoffman of Williamsport has been promoted to shop supervisor in the Service Department at Specialized Communications Inc. of Hagerstown.

Hoffman has been with Specialized Communications for eight years as a maintenance engineer.

Dr. Richard W. Powell

Dr. Richard W. Powell of Hagerstown has been selected for inclusion in the publication "Guide to America's Top Physicians."

Powell was selected by the Consumers' Research Council of America in Washington.

Powell, an internal medicine specialist and psychiatrist, also has been selected as one of "America's Top Psychiatrists."

Total Fitness Specialists

Tina McNulty, Roy Harsh, Erin Fleming and Alys Dahbura of Total Fitness Specialists Inc. recently attended the Beach Jam Fitness, Personal Trainer & Mind Body Conference in Ocean City, Md.

Baltimore Life Companies

Larry L. Hines of Williamsport has been promoted to district manager by the Baltimore Life Companies of Owings Mills, Md.


Wanda D. Kell of Waynesboro, Pa., has been promoted to district sales manager.

Timothy D. Bacorn has transferred from the Frederick, Md., office to the Hagerstown office as district agent.

Baltimore Life is at 1825 Howell Road, Suite 4, in Hagerstown.

Tastefully Simple

Karen Hart of Smithsburg recently became a consultant for Tastefully Simple Inc., a national direct sales company based in Alexandria, Minn.

Hart conducts in-home presentations of convenience-driven gourmet foods.

Dennis E. Black Engineering

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Lee S. Zeger III, engineer-in-training, has joined Dennis E. Black Engineering Inc. in Chambersburg.

His responsibilities will include the design of building structures, building rehabilitation, structural analysis and design, estimating, project management, and hydrology along with civil engineering duties.

Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage

Suzanne Glocker of Hagerstown was among the top producers of 2002 honored by Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage at its annual "Tipping Our Hats to the Tops" awards breakfasts in Baltimore and Bethesda, Md.

Glocker was in the company's Top 10 in Total Volume Sales and was No. 1 in Total Number of Transactions.

Edward Jones

Joie Hook recently joined a Hagerstown office of the financial services firm Edward Jones as a branch office administrator trainee.

Hook, of Hagerstown, must complete the firm's in-depth training program within six months to graduate from trainee designation into office administrator.

Tri-County Animal Medical Center

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Dr. Ken Bixel has joined the staff of Tri-County Animal Medical Center.

Bixel, a graduate of Chambersburg Area Senior High School, was most recently employed at The Animal Doctor in Colorado.

Magnolia Management

Peter E. Perini Sr., president, Magnolia Management Inc., and a resident of Hagerstown, has been selected for the Leadership Maryland Class of 2003.

Leadership Maryland is an independent, educational, nonprofit organization designed to inform executives from the public and private sectors about critical issues, challenges and opportunities facing Maryland and its regions.

Perini is one of 50 people statewide selected to participate in the eight-month program.

YMCA Hagerstown

Richard Hoban, board president, and Mike Flicek, executive director of Hagerstown YMCA, recently attended the Mid-Atlantic YMCA Assembly in King of Prussia, Pa.

The assembly dealt with a number of governance issues and strategic planning for the YMCA of the USA.

David Beachley, a member of the Hagerstown YMCA Board of Trustees, was elected as a delegate to the National Assembly, Nov. 6-7 in Chicago. Beachley served on the local YMCA board from 1984 to 2002, holding the offices of secretary, vice president and president, and is a member of the YMCA of the USA East Field Committee.

Long & Foster

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Butch Cazin was the sales associate in March for the Martinsburg office of Long & Foster.

Cazin was the top producer, top lister, top seller and the agent with the most new listings with a sales volume of $1,992,900.

Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Tim Smith, Sherry Toomey and Tammi Hennessy have been named Agents of the Month for March at the Chambersburg office of Jack Gaughen Realtor ERA.

Smith, of Chambersburg, won for the 11 years of service and over category. Toomey, of Chambersburg, won in the two through 10 years of service and Hennessy, of Chambersburg, won in the new agent through one full year of service category.

Agents are chosen based on listings, listings sold, sales, secured land transfer closings, ERA mortgages closed, referrals sent and recruiting referrals sent to the manager.

Apparatus Repair & Engineering

Dave Hose of Apparatus Repair & Engineering Inc. in Hagerstown recently traveled to Long Island, N.Y., to Schenk Trebel Corp. to attend a three-day course on The Fundamentals of Balancing and received a Certificate of Completion.

Maryland State Police

Maryland State Police Trooper 1st Class Chris Barnard has been selected as the Hagerstown Barrack Trooper of the Month for March.

Barnard was nominated by his supervisors and selected by the command staff because of his outstanding criminal and traffic enforcement efforts and performance in March.
