Edward W. Schlotterbeck


Edward Woodrow "Babe" Schlotterbeck, 85, of 433 Stratford Ave. in Hagerstown, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born April 30, 1917, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late John Jacob and Jessie Young Schlotterbeck.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Rosemary Madeline Schlotterbeck.

He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Hagerstown.

He was co-owner and parts manager of Tri-State Motor Sales and served in similar capacities at A&B Garage and Wareheim Airbreaks and Controls.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He is survived by two daughters, Beverly A. Schlotterbeck of Annandale, Va., and Janet C. Schlotterbeck of Hagerstown; one son, Edward W. Schlotterbeck Jr. of Mechanicsville, Md.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, John J. Schlotterbeck and Thomas J. Schlotterbeck.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, Hagerstown. The Rev. Edward Heim will officiate. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery, Hagerstown.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, Hagerstown, and Monday at 1 p.m. at the church.

Robert L. Snyder


WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Robert L. Snyder, 45, of 11592 Anthony Highway, died Wednesday, April 16, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital.

Born May 14, 1957, in Waynesboro, he was the son of Robert L. and Lois M. Cantner Snyder of Waynesboro.

He was a 1976 graduate of Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

He was last employed by The Record Herald for 10 years.

He was a member of Joe Stickell Sons of American Legion Post 15 in Waynesboro.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by one brother, Kirk D. Snyder of Waynesboro; two nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Grove-Bowersox Funeral Home, Waynesboro. The Rev. George Jones will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Blake A. French


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Blake Anthony French, infant son of Steven J. and April M. Statler French, of 8 Loudon Road, died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at Chambersburg (Pa.) Hospital from complications during birth.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by maternal grandparents, Randy W. and Alice L. Hornbaker Statler of Williamson, Pa.; paternal grandmother, Susan D. Custer Buchanan of Greencastle, Pa.; maternal great-grandparents, Melvin E. and Alice L. Hensley Hornbaker of Mercersburg; maternal great-grandparents, P. Richard and Elizabeth A. Little Statler of Williamson, Pa.; and paternal great-grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Hege of Mercersburg.

He was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Wilson D. French; paternal stepgrandfather, Jay A. Buchanan; and one great-great-aunt.

Services will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. Pastor David P. Possinger will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas (Pa.) Cemetery.

Visitation will be Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.




Jack L. Nazelrod Sr.


Jack Lee Nazelrod Sr., 70, of 10901 Oak Forest Drive in Hagerstown, died Thursday, April 17, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born July 13, 1932, in Pierce, W.Va., he was the son of the late Dayton and Carolyn Lipscomb Nazelrod.

He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1955.

He retired from Statton Furniture.

He was a member of Emmanuel United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Funkstown American Legion Post 211.

He is survived by his wife, Jean Koogle Nazelrod; two sons, Jack Nazelrod II of Hagerstown, and Mike Nazelrod of Falling Waters, W.Va.; two sisters, Thelma Rizer of Cleveland, and Phyllis Flanders of Fort Myers, Fla.; two brothers, Victor Nazelrod of Hagerstown, and Justin Nazelrod of El Paso, Texas; four grandchildren; and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Poffenberger; and one brother, Roscoe Nazelrod.

Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at Minnich Funeral Home, East Wilson Boulevard, Hagerstown. The Rev. Dennis L. Upton will officiate. Burial will be in Cedar Lawn Memorial Park, with military honors by Morris Frock American Legion Post 42.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Henry T. Youngblood


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Henry T. Youngblood, 65, of 1572 Fairview Ave., died Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at his home.

Born Oct. 26, 1937, in Great Cacapon, W.Va., he was the son of the late Earl and Ethel Grouse Youngblood.

He worked as a diesel mechanic for Roadway Express in Carlisle, Pa.. and Hagerstown for 28 years.

He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during the Korean War.

He was a Protestant.
