W.Va. woman faces drug charges

MARTINSBURG, W.Wa. - A woman stopped last night for driving without her lights on faces a drug charge, Martinsburg City Police said.

Danielle Kline, 20, of Hedgesville, W.Va., was charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana.

Police said Kline was stopped at 10:35 p.m.

A search of the car turned up 25 grams of marijuana, or just under an ounce, under the seat, police alleged.

Kline was free on $2,500 bail, according to a spokesman at the Eastern Regional Jail in Martinsburg.

Windows, doors broken at Fort Ritchie

The Washington County Sheriff's Department responded to the following calls Monday:

  • Forty-two windows and doors were reported broken Monday at Building 700, Fort Ritchie, on Buena Vista Road. Damage was reported at $12,000.

  • The windows to a coin-operated laundry building at Halfway Manor Apartments were reported shot with BB's Monday at 8:30 a.m. Damage was estimated at $200.

  • Jewelry valued at $1,000 was reported missing from a house on the 19200 block of Swinging Bridge Road near Boonsboro at 9 p.m. Monday.

  • A Microsoft Xbox game console and games were reported missing Monday from the 3100 block of Harpers Ferry Road. Estimated loss was $420.

License plates stolen on Jonathan Street

Hagerstown City Police said a pair of Maryland license tags were reported stolen Monday night in the 300 block of North Jonathan Street.


The tag numbers were BMN 086, police said.

W.Va. men face larceny charges

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Two men were charged with grand larceny after keys to a car were taken from another man and the car stolen Monday night, Charles Town Police said Tuesday.

The men took the keys from a man inside the Charles Towers Apartments and one of the men was driving the car from the complex when it was stopped by a Charles Town Police officer, police alleged.

The car keys were taken at about 11:52 p.m. in the hallway of the apartment complex at 151 Augustine Ave., said Charles Town Police Detective John Jeffries.

Both men jumped in the car and it was stopped in the Hilldale shopping center after Patrolman Ronald Kerns noticed the car, Jeffries said.

The driver of the car got out of the vehicle and led Kerns on a short foot chase before the officer apprehended the man, Jeffries said.

The other man stayed in the car, Jeffries said.

James Shelton, 33, of 324 N. Mildred St., Apt. 4, Ranson, was charged with grand larceny of auto, first-degree robbery, third offense DUI, obstructing an officer, fleeing on foot, driving revoked for DUI and driving revoked for administrative purposes, Jeffries said.

Ricky Roper, 26, of 151 Augustine Ave., Charles Town, was charged with first-degree robbery and grand larceny of auto, Jeffries said.

Shelton was being held in the Eastern Regional Jail on $10,000 bond and Roper was being held in the jail on $150,000 bond, a jail spokesman said.
