City extends Dumpster program

April 14, 2003|by SCOTT BUTKI

The City of Hagerstown's annual spring Dumpster program has been extended through next week due to inclement weather.

The program, at the intersection of South Potomac Street and West Memorial Boulevard, was to end today. It will now be available Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturday, April 19, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Identification proving city residency will be needed, Public Works Manager Eric Deike said.

Deike said no trash will be collected Friday in observance of Good Friday, he said.

Giffin said items not permitted in the program include tires, batteries, paint, chemical waste or other hazardous waste and items containing Freon.

The trash bins provided for the program are not to be used by commercial haulers.

Residents are asked not to put yard waste or recyclable items in the bins. The city has a separate program for those types of items.
