Week designated for kids, victims

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday proclaimed April 6-12 Counties Care for Kids Week and Washington County Crime Victims' Rights Week.

County Commissioner Doris J. Nipps presented the Counties Care for Kids Week proclamation to Stephanie Stone, director of the Washington County Community Partnership.

The proclamation states that Washington County provides the necessary services to keep kids healthy and to make communities stronger and safer places to live and raise families.

Commissioners President Gregory I. Snook presented the Crime Victims' Rights Week proclamation to Jill Ritter, director of the Victim-Witness Unit of the Washington County State's Attorney's office.


That proclamation was made to reaffirm a commitment to respect and enforce victims' rights and address their needs.

County to advertise engineering vacancy

The Washington County Commissioners on Tuesday agreed to advertise the Engineering Department's project manager position vacancy.

The job pays $32,391 a year. The position became vacant on March 28.
