Donne F. Decker


HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - Donne Fay Decker, 46, of Hedgesville, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at her home.

Born March 19, 1957, she was the daughter of George Dean Nale of Commerce, Fla., and Ora Fay Crane of Florida.

She was employed as a paralegal with McNeer Highland McMunn and Varner LC Law Office in Martinsburg, W.Va.

In addition to her parents, she is survived by her husband, John B. Decker; one daughter, Shannon E. Decker of Hedgesville; one son, Michael W. Decker of Hedgesville; one sister, Patricia Nale of Lakeworth, Fla.; one brother, George D. Nale Jr. of Hot Springs, Ark.; and nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.




Ida M. Funk


CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Ida M. "Shorty" Funk, 69, of 1023 Willowbrook Court, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at her home.

Born Aug. 21, 1933, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late Emma Gsell Miley.

Her husband, Harry E. Funk Sr., died Dec. 23, 1988.

She was employed by the Franklin County Housing Authority for 10 years. She retired in 1979.

She is survived by two daughters, Doreen Horn of Chambersburg, and Lynann M. Funk, at home; one son, Harry E. Funk Jr.; one brother, David G. Gsell of Baltimore; and three grandchildren.

Private services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery.

Arrangements are by Robert G. Sellers Funeral Home, Chambersburg.




Charles D. McDonald


MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - Charles David "Mac" McDonald, 63, of Martinsburg, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at City Hospital.

Born May 12, 1939, in Berkeley County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lester A. and Virginia Pearl Grubb McDonald.

He was a 1957 graduate of Musselman High School.

He served in the U.S. Army and the 167th Air Tactical Airlift Wing, West Virginia Air National Guard, for a combined total of 30 years.

He was a member of Mountain View Church of the Brethren in Inwood, W.Va.

He was a member of Berkeley American Legion Post 14.

He is survived by his wife, Erma Parker McDonald; four sons, Jeff McDonald and Scott McDonald, both of Martinsburg, and Mike McDonald and Kevin McDonald, both of West Chester, Pa.; two sisters, Joyce A. Harrison of Alta Vista, Va., and Barbara J. St. Clair of Martinsburg; 10 grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Mary E. Mason; and one brother, Lester A. McDonald Jr.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood. Chaplain Dennis Yocum will officiate. Burial with military graveside services will be in Mountain View Church of the Brethren Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




Virginia E. Lowery


BRUNSWICK, Md. - Virginia E. "Sis" Lowery, 75, of 409 4th Ave., died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Kline Hospice House in Mount Airy, Md.

Born April 1, 1928, in Brunswick, she was the daughter of the late Harry O. and Lacy Carey Danner Powers.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Charles Lowery.

She was the retired owner/operator of My Sisters Place in Brunswick.

She was a member and served on the board of First Church of God in Brunswick.

She is survived by four daughters, Linda Thee of Brunswick, Loudell Bartlett of Frederick, Md., Pattie Nichols of Shenandoah Junction, W.Va., and Misti Glascock of Strasburg, Va.; one sister, Susie Kersey of Brunswick; one aunt; one uncle; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Lillian Powers; four brothers, Raymond Danner, Franklin Danner, Norman Danner and Fritz Powers; one granddaughter; and two great-grandsons.

Services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at First Church of God, Brunswick. The Rev. Ernie Witmer will officiate. Burial will be in Resthaven Memorial Gardens, Frederick.

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at John T. Williams Funeral Home, Brunswick, which will be open Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Grace V. Mater


BOLIVAR, W.Va. - Grace Virginia Sperry Mater, 89, of Jefferson Street, died Saturday, April 5, 2003, at Blue Ridge Care and Rehabilitation Center in Charles Town, W.Va.

Born April 23, 1913, in Middletown, Va., she was the daughter of the late Frank H. and Mary Willey Sperry.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Laughlin "Sheik" Mater.

She was a graduate of Harpers Ferry (W.Va.) High School.

She was a member of Camp Hill-Wesley United Methodist Church in Harpers Ferry, where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of WSCS.

She was a member of Harpers Ferry Alumni.
