ANNAPOLIS - A Senate panel rejected legislation Thursday to force slow drivers to move out of the fast lane.
With no discussion, the Senate Judicial Proceedings Committee voted 9-2 to kill the bill.
The House of Delegates passed the bill, which would have subjected drivers who block traffic in the passing lane to a misdemeanor charge.
It was sponsored by Del. Kevin Kelly, D-Allegany, who argued it would allow traffic to flow more smoothly.
Opponents had argued it will give speeding drivers a license to go even faster.
