Commissioners advised to raise health premiums

An insurance benefits specialist told the Washington County Commissioners Thursday they might want to raise employee health care contributions slightly to help keep up with increasing costs.

The County Commissioners did not make a decision on the recommendation.

One-day peace vigil begins Saturday

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - WVPeace, a coalition of peace and justice groups in the Eastern Panhandle, will hold a 24-hour peace vigil beginning at 7 p.m. Saturday in Shepherdstown.

The vigil is a continuing effort to oppose the violence of war, organizers said.

Group members will be at McMurran Hall on German Street with candles and signs. They will take turns around the clock, organizers said.
