State veterinary examination set

BALTIMORE - The State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners will administer the State Veterinary Technician Certification Examination and the Veterinary Technician National Examination on Friday, June 20, for candidates who want to be certified as a Registered Veterinary Technician in Maryland.

The examination is given at Essex Community College, 7201 Rossville Blvd., Baltimore. It begins at 9 a.m.

Applications must be received by May 6 at the State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners at the Maryland Department of Agriculture, 50 Harry S. Truman Parkway, Room 203, Annapolis, MD 21401.

Conflict resolution forum is scheduled

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - A town hall forum on Global Conflict Resolution will be held Thursday, April 10, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Shepherd College in the Cumberland Room of the College Center.

The forum will center on key principles and their application to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Korea Peninsula issues.

Through the forum, organizers hope to help enhance awareness of the role and importance of conflict resolution in addressing two strategic global conflicts.


Co-Sponsors of the event are the International Student Union of Shepherd College, the college Multi-Cultural Group, the Shepherd College departments of Political Science and Education, Ezekiel's Place Retreat Center, WV Peace, Peaceworks and Amnesty International. No one injured in Hagerstown fire

There were no injuries reported from a house fire Friday morning on Jefferson Boulevard in Hagerstown, Washington County Emergency Services said.

Smoke was reported at the home in the 20445 block of Jefferson Boulevard at 6:33 a.m. Funkstown, Longmeadow and Hagerstown firefighters responded, a dispatcher said.

The fire was out in 12 minutes, and the last firefighters left at 7:36 a.m.
