The Brants


Ernest and Laura Brant of Williamsport were honored at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Wilson Ruritan Club in Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their son and spouse, James E. and Linda Brant, daughter and spouse, Connie S. and Allen Berry, and grandson. About 65 friends and family attended the event. Pastor Paul Moore gave the invocation and prayer.

The Brants were married Dec. 13, 1952, by Pastor Lawrence W. Burton of the Park Place Methodist Church in LaVale, Md.

Mrs. Brant is the former Laura Imes. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Brant retired in 1994 after working for Fairchild Aircraft and Rohr Air Craft. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Army Reserve Center in Greencastle, Pa.

The Clantons


Lee R. and Velda Clanton celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003, at a dinner party hosted by their children, son-in-law, granddaughter and sisters at their daughter's home.

The Clantons were married Feb. 2, 1953, at Patterson Memorial Methodist Church in Baltimore by the Rev. Herbert L. Weaver.

Mrs. Clanton is the former Velda Elizabeth Robinette. She retired from the Board of Education in 1988.

Mr. Clanton served in the Navy during World War II and in the Army from 1947 to 1953. He retired from Mack Trucks Inc. in June 1987.

The Clantons have two children, Roy Lynn Clanton and Shirley Clark, married to Timothy H. Clark, and one granddaughter, all of Hagerstown.
