Area Ravens Roost clubs to honor Hartwell, Thomas

Two local Baltimore Ravens fan organizations will welcome Ravens players and personalities to the area for award banquets in the next two weeks.

Ravens Roost No. 7 will present the 40th Double EE Award Banquet and Dinner Dance on April 12 at Hagerstown Elks Lodge No. 378 on Robinwood Drive.

Ravens linebacker Ed Hartwell will be on hand to accept the Extra Effort award, which will be presented by defensive coordinator Mike Nolan. Comcast Sports Net anchor Sage Steele will be the mistress of ceremonies. Former Baltimore Colt Bruce Laird, president of the NFL Alumni Association for the Baltimore/D.C. area, will also be in attendance.

The All-Washington County high school football team will also be honored and one senior will be awarded the $2,000 Gus Baker Memorial Scholarship.


Music will be provided by The Holders and there will be a silent auction for a football signed by surviving members of the 1958 Baltimore Colts championship team.

Nest No. 12 to honor Thomas

The Tri-State Ravens Nest No. 12 will hold its Fourth Annual Lineman of the Year Banquet on April 5 at the Four Points Sheraton in Hagerstown.

This year's award winner is defensive end Adalius Thomas. Also scheduled to attend are defensive line coach Rex Ryan, assistant coach Mike Pettine, manager of corporate community partnerships Kenny Abrams and former Colts great Mike Curtis.

The banquet will begin with an autographe session and media interviews at 5 p.m., followed by dinner and the Sounds of Sinatra floor show featuring Mickey Light.
