MARTINSBURG, W.Va. - A Boonsboro woman was killed Wednesday night in a single-car accident on Little Georgetown Road in northern Berkeley County, said West Virginia State Police.
The woman's name was not available Wednesday night because police had not notified next of kin, Trooper Kevin Plumer said.
The woman, who was about 37 years old, was driving a Ford Explorer south on Little Georgetown Road about 170 feet north of Vineyard Road at about 9:37 p.m., Plumer said.
Vineyard Road was formerly known as Dam No. 5 Road, police said.
It appears the woman's sport utility vehicle left the road and struck a tree, causing her to be thrown from the vehicle, Plumer said.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene, Plumer said.
A passer-by noticed the wreck and notified authorities, Plumer said.
