Commissioners honor two as Youth, Citizen of the Month

An 11th-grade Hancock Middle-Senior High School student was named Youth of the Month for February on Tuesday at the Washington County Commissioners meeting.

Commissioner John C. Munson presented Jennifer Miller with a Certificate of Merit and a savings bond for her achievements.

Jennifer is the daughter of Russ and Donna Miller of Hancock. She has been a class officer for the last three years; a member of the Student Council for three years, serving in secretarial and presidential positions and involved in the Future Business Leaders of America for three years, serving in the treasurer and chaptorian roles.

Jennifer also has been active in other extracurricular activities, including peer tutoring, being part of the M-PULSE (Maryland Peers Using Leadership Skills Everywhere) and a D.A.R.E. role model.

She is a Bible and Sunday school teacher, a member of Camp Joy and a Youth Center helper for the Hancock Town Council.

Jennifer has maintained a 3.75 grade point average and expects to graduate early as a junior.
