Washington County Attorney Richard Douglas said Wednesday that the county would pay for half of former county Human Resources Director Alan J. Davis' health insurance benefits if Davis opted for that coverage.
Douglas would not say whether Davis chose that benefit.
Davis, 47, retired on Tuesday, the county said. He had worked for the county since 1981.
Douglas said the county has a policy that states it will pay half of the health insurance benefits for all eligible retirees until they qualify for Medicare.
A retiree is eligible for that county program based on his or her years of service, Douglas said.
On Tuesday, Douglas said he thought Davis's health insurance benefits would be good for three years. He said Wednesday that information was incorrect.
