Man sought on two outstanding warrants


Hagerstown City Police said they are looking for Troy Lee Middleton, 32, of 252 Daycotah Ave., who is wanted on two outstanding warrants.

Middleton is white, weighs 150 pounds, and has brown hair and hazel eyes, police said.

Police said they have two Washington County District Court warrants charging him with probation violation.

Police ask that anyone with information about Middleton call the department's Criminal Investigation Division at 301-790-3700, ext. 234 or Washington County Crime Solvers at 301-733-4141.




Driver in Monday crash remains hospitalized


The driver in a Monday afternoon single-vehicle accident on Beaver Creek Church Road was listed in serious condition Wednesday night at Washington County Hospital.

Stanley Barrett Jr., 23, of 16612 Spiceberry Court, was driving a Ford Taurus at 4:10 p.m. near the intersection with White Hall Road when the car ran off the road and hit a utility pole, Washington County Sheriff's deputies said.

Sheriff's Department responds to incidents


The Washington County Sheriff's Department received the following calls Tuesday.

  • The front window of a home on the first block of Park Avenue was reported broken at 8:29 p.m. Damage was estimated at $200.

  • A vehicle was reported broken into at the Park & Ride near Auto Place at 3 p.m., and items were taken.

  • A Pennsylvania dealer tag was reported taken off a car at the Waffle House at 13612 Crayton Blvd. at 5:16 p.m.





Man taken to hospital after motorcycle crash


A 19-year-old motorcyclist was taken to Washington County Hospital at about 8 a.m. Wednesday after he crashed in the 14400 block of National Pike, according to Washington County Emergency Services.

The man was taken to Washington County Hospital.

The man's identity was not available.




W.Va. man charged with breaking and entering


CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - A Charles Town man was charged with breaking and entering after a burglary alarm call at the Leetown (W.Va.) Science Center last Saturday, court records said.

Tye Scott Briscoe, 24, of 19 Cloverdale Heights, was free on $10,000 bond, said court records and jail officials.

West Virginia State Police were notified at about 3:41 a.m. Saturday of the alarm at the center, which is along Leetown Road in Leetown, Jefferson County Magistrate Court records said.

When an officer arrived at the scene, he noticed that the front door was ajar and an outside window was broken, court records said. The officer also noticed a keypad from an alarm system was torn from the wall and was lying on the floor in several pieces, court records said.

There also was blood on a desk, court records said.

The officer later noticed a person running north on Leetown Road and found the man on his stomach over an embankment, court records said.
