Donald W. Hollar


JEFFERSON, Md. - Donald Wayne Hollar, 63, of 3821 Bedford Drive, died Saturday, March 22, 2003, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born April 25, 1939, in Brunswick, Md., he was the son of the late John Raymond and Louyse Derflinger Hollar.

He was employed part time with Hertz Rent-A-Car in Frederick, and retired from Eastalco Aluminum Co. in Buckeystown, Md.

He was a member of New York Hill United Methodist Church in Brunswick.

He was member and past master of Brunswick A.F. & A.M. Lodge 191.

He is survived by his wife, Gloria Jean King Hollar; two daughters, Kelli Jo Fisher and Marci R. Hollar, both of Brunswick; one son, Gene Hollar of Brunswick; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at New York Hill United Methodist Church, Brunswick. The Rev. Clark Carr will officiate. Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Lovettsville, Va.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. Masonic memorial services will be Wednesday at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Irene E. McCauley


BUNKER HILL, W.Va. - Irene Elizabeth Markle McCauley, 85, of Bunker Hill, died Sunday, March 23, 2003, at her home.

Born Jan. 6, 1918, in Shippensburg, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clarence and Mazie Unger Markle.

She was preceded in death by her husband, J. Truman McCauley.

She retired as a cook for Berkeley County Schools.

She was a member of Bunker Hill United Methodist Church, where she held various offices.

She is survived by three daughters, Dolores Shirley of Shepherdstown, W.Va., Nancy Riner of Bunker Hill, and Debra McCauley-Tokach of Cross Junction, Va.; four grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and nieces and nephews.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at South Berkeley Chapel, Inwood, W.Va. The Revs. Walter Bowers and Vicki M. Dotterer will officiate. The casket will be open two hours prior to the services. Burial will be in Bunker Hill Cemetery.

Geraldine N. Horne


HUSTONTOWN, Pa. - Geraldine Naomi Horne, 81, of North Clear Ridge Road, died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center in McConnellsburg, Pa.

Born Jan. 7, 1922, in Mount Union, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Orris and Ruth Cramer Brown.

She was a homemaker and worked nearly 20 years at Sagner Inc. in McConnellsburg.

She was a member of Walnut Grove Church of God in Three Springs, Pa., where she was a member of the Gleaner's Class, taught the Children's Sunday school class and was secretary-treasurer of the Missionary Society.

She was a member of the auxiliary of the Fulton County Camp, Gideons International.

She is survived by her husband, Miles W. Horne, whom she married March 26, 1940; two daughters, Dolores Swope and Bonnie Houck, both of Chambersburg, Pa.; three sons, Fred Horne and Ronald Horne, both of Hustontown, and Donald Horne of Fort Littleton, Pa.; six sisters, Freda Ellis of Altoona, Pa., Inez Barnett of Waterfall, Pa., Viola Pollock and Wilda Mills, both of Chambersburg, Janet Fraker of Fort Littleton, and Dorothy Brown of Orbisonia, Pa.; two brothers, Russell Brown of Chambersburg, and Nelson Brown of Burnt Cabins, Pa.; 15 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four stepgreat-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Maxine and Audrey; and two brothers, Richard and Leo.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Walnut Grove Church of God. The Rev. Rocky Shaal will officiate. Burial will be in Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at M.R. Brown Funeral Home, Hustontown, and Wednesday one hour prior to the services at the church.

Golda R. Zirk


WINCHESTER, Va. - Golda Rae Smith Zirk, 75, of Winchester, and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Friday, March 21, 2003, at Winchester Medical Center.

Born Nov. 19, 1927, in Purgitsville, W.Va., she was the daughter of the late Ada Victoria Sirk and Walter Hillery Smith.

Her husband, Robert Lee Zirk, died June 29, 1993. They were married Dec. 23, 1944.

She was a homemaker.

She attended Berkeley Springs Church of the Nazarene.

She was a member of Risinger-Stotler VFW Post 4019 Auxiliary in Berkeley Springs.

She is survived by one daughter, Linda J. Garner of Yuma, Ariz.; one sister, Violet Fox of Sleepy Creek, W.Va.; one granddaughter, Daphne K. Lopez of Houston; and one great-granddaughter.
