Local briefs - Rams announce signees

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd College head football coach Monte Cater announced that five high school players have signed letters of intent to play for the Rams in 2003.

Among the group is Scott See, who played last season at Hampshire High School in Romney, W.Va.

Leonard Ferguson, Sherrod Jeffery and Demetrius Weeden attended high school in Maryland last year before signing with Shepherd. Michael Portch of Staunton, Va., rounds out the five signees.


Rams cancel game due to weather

SHEPHERDSTOWN, W.Va. - Shepherd College baseball coach Wayne Riser announced that today's game against SUNY-Oswego has been canceled due to inclement weather.

The Rams return to action on Monday at 7 p.m. at Belmont Abbey.


HJBL All-Star Game to honor soldiers

The Hagerstown Junior Basketball League will be hosting its annual All-Star Games on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. at St. Maria Goretti High School.


There will also be a special pre-game show starting at 12:40 to honor the men and women serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom. "Salute to America" will feature the AMVETS Post 10 honor guard as well as music.
