The Brants

Ernest and Laura Brant of Williamsport were honored at a surprise 50th wedding anniversary celebration Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at Wilson Ruritan Club in Hagerstown. The event was hosted by their son and spouse, James E. and Linda Brant, granddaughter and spouse, and grandson. About 65 friends and family attended the event. Pastor Paul Moore gave the invocation and prayer.

The Brants were married Dec. 13, 1952, by Pastor Lawerence W. Burton of the Park Place Methodist Church in LaVale, Md.

Mrs. Brant is the former Laura Imes. She is a homemaker.

Mr. Brant retired in 1994 after working for Fairchild Aircraft and Rohr Air Craft. He also served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from the Army Reserve Center in Greencastle, Pa.

The Woodwards

Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Woodward of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Dec. 25, 2002. A surprise party was held in their honor Saturday, Jan. 11, at Mimslyn Inn in Luray, Va., hosted by their two sons, their daughter, and their four grandchildren. More than 100 friends and relatives attended the event.


The Woodwards were married Dec. 25, 1952, in Luray.

The Painters

Arthur David and Edith Agnes Schroder Painter observed their 55th wedding anniversary Saturday, Feb. 15, 2003, at a surprise gathering of family at the Red Horse Steak House in Hagerstown, hosted by their daughter, Deborah Painter-Dickey, and their son and spouse, Robert and Sally Painter of Danville, Calif., in absentia. Present at the event were five generations of the family. The Painters were presented a basket of 55 white carnations.

The Painters were married Feb. 15, 1948, at St. David's Episcopal Church in Washington, D.C.

They have two children, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
