Suns hold national anthem tryouts

The Hagerstown Suns will be holding open tryouts for the singing of the national anthem at the Valley Mall on April 5.

Registration for all participants will begin at 9 a.m. in the food court. Auditions will begin at 10.

The auditions are open to all participants age 5 or older. More than one winner will be selected in each of three groups - ages 5-10, ages 11-18, and ages 19 and over - with 60 winners selected overall.

All winners will get to sing the national anthem before a Suns home game this season.

Participants may sing the national anthem either a cappella (without music) or with background music; however, the national anthem at Municipal Stadium must be sung a cappella.

Singers are permitted to try out individually or in groups. If a singer is under 18 years of age, he or she must have a parent or guardian accompanying him or her at the tryouts, and all winners must be able to provide their own transportation to the game.
