Glenn E. Sowers

BRUNSWICK, Md. - Glenn Edward Sowers, 76, of 1 East "E" St., died Tuesday, March 11, 2003, at Frederick (Md.) Memorial Hospital.

Born June 14, 1926, in Broad Run, Md., he was the son of the late Harry and Anna Mary Ausherman Sowers.

He retired from Essroc Cement Co. in Lime Kiln, Md., after 30 years.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the U.S. Army.

He was a member of Pleasant View Church of the Brethren in Burkittsville, Md.

He was a member of VFW Post 10421 of Brunswick.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Beatrice Grace Brown Sowers; two daughters, Melody Marshall and Candy Powers, both of Brunswick; two sons, Michael Sowers of Burkittsville and Darrin Sowers of Brunswick; four sisters, Frances Fauble, Mary Danner, Evelyn Flanagan and Ruth Biggs, all of Frederick; one brother, William Sowers of Burkittsville; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Dottie L. Wean.


Services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at Pleasant View Church of the Brethren in Burkittsville. The Rev. Tim May will officiate. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends today and Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Md. Visitation also will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at the church.
