Nicklas J. Murdock

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Nicklas J. "Nick" Murdock, 73, of 301 Green St., died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Oct. 28, 1929, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph R. and Josephine Cammela Murdock.

He attended Pittsburgh schools.

He was employed as a tractor-trailer driver by various trucking companies.

He served in the U.S. Army during the occupation of Japan.

He was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waynesboro.

He was a member of National AARP and William Max McLaughln VFW Post 695 of Waynesboro.

He is survived by his wife, Irene Stella Gurcak Murdock, whom he married Jan. 3, 1949; two daughters, Diane M. Ketchel of Jefferson Boro, Pa. and Judith A. Kress of Baldwin Boro, Pa.; two sons, Joseph M. Murdock of Crystal Springs, Pa. and Nicklas A. Murdock of Waynesboro; two sisters, Sylvia Neuhousler of Butler, Pa. and Nancy Perry of Baldwin Boro; and five grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one sister, Judith Murdock.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Andrew Catholic Church, Waynesboro. The Rev. Thomas J. Hemler will be celebrant. Burial will be in St. Andrew Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church, 12 N. Broad St. Waynesboro, PA 17268; or American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
