Olen E. Stoops

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Olen E. Stoops, 74, of 12077 Old Forge Road, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at his home.

Born Sept. 12, 1928, in Quincy Township, Pa., he was the son of the late Percy M. and Ida Bonner Stoops.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Helen Gates Stoops, in 1983.

He was a 1945 graduate of Quincy High School.

He worked for 39 years for Landis Tool Co., as a welder, foreman of the welders and foreman of the paint shop, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church, and attended Kingdom Builders Sunday School Class.

He was a member of Goldenaires, Waynesboro Fish and Game Club, Adams County Fish and Game Club, South Mountain Fish and Game Club, AARP and was a former director of Quincy Ox Roast Association.


He is survived by his wife, Janet Burger Stoops, whom he married in July 1996; four daughters, Barbara A. Shew of Brunswick, Md., Robin E. Stoops of Fayetteville, Pa., Kathy B. Rego of Boston and Valerie Maloff of Celebration, Fla.; five sisters, Frances Besecker of Chambersburg, Pa., Naomi Finafrock, Arlene Bluebaugh, Irene Baughman and Shirley Huntsberry, all of Waynesboro; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by eight sisters and brothers, Glen Stoops, Orville Stoops, Claire Stoops, Mary Etter, Garland Stoops, H. Carl Stoops, Robert Stoops and Fay Stoops.

Services will be Friday at 10 a.m. at Hollowell Brethren in Christ Church, Greencastle, Pa. The Rev. Blaine A. Lougheed will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Lochstampfor Funeral Home, Waynesboro; and at the church Friday at 9 a.m.
