Robert E. Hensley Sr.

Robert Edward "Bob" Hensley Sr., 76, of the Western Maryland Hospital Center, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at the hospital center.

Born Nov. 6, 1926, in Virginia, he was the son of the late Carl and Lucy Norris Hensley.

He was employed by Fairchild Aircraft in Hagerstown, retiring in 1989.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II in the Medical Corps.

He attended Catalpa Methodist Church in Hancock.

He was a member of American Legion Post 26 in Hancock.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Anna Hensley; two daughters, Mary A. Hensley of Hancock, and Connie Hovermale of Berkeley Springs, Md.; two sons, Robert Hensley Jr. of Chambersburg, Pa., and Steve Hensley of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; six sisters, Gladys Morris of Hancock, Donna DeHaven of Joppatown, Md., Dolly Hurst of Jacksonville, Fla., Lucy DeHaven of Baltimore, Margaret Kokoszha of McConnellsburg, Pa., and Clara Clark of Needmore, Pa.; two brothers, Herb Hensley of Warfordsburg, Pa., and Carl Hensley of Needmore; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by one brother, Issac Hensley.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. at the Western Maryland Hospital Center, Hagerstown. Chaplain Don Evason will officiate.

The family will receive friends immediately following the services until 4 p.m.

His body was donated to the Maryland Anatomy Board.
