Henry V. Gray

HARPERS FERRY, W.Va. - Henry Vernon Gray, 74, of Cavalier Heights, died Monday, March 10, 2003, at Jefferson Memorial Hospital in Ranson, W.Va.

Born Dec. 18, 1928, in Jefferson County, W.Va., he was the son of the late Lawrence and Anna Hill Gray.

He was employed by Charles Town Races; and worked for 33 years at the A&P store in Charles Town.

He was a Protestant.

He had bowled in the Inwood Eatery and Golden Corral bowling leagues.

He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Dorothy J. Weister Gray; three daughters, Tammy Graybill of Brunswick, Md., Angela B. Ritz of Clear Spring and Angela D. Shanton of Thurmont, Md.; three sons, David Gray of Kearneysville, W.Va., Gary Gray of Ranson and Timothy Gray of Harpers Ferry; three brothers, Shirley Gray of Culpeper, Va., Robert Gray of Kearneysville and Charles Gray of Martinsburg, W.Va.; 16 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by six sisters and one brother.

Services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Melvin T. Strider Colonial Funeral Home, Charles Town. The Rev. Wyman Hall will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant View Memory Gardens, Martinsburg.

Friends will be received Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
