Janice E. Hummer

FREDERICK, Md. - Janice Elizabeth Hummer, 70, of 1798 Amber Court, died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at her home.

Born Jan. 18, 1933, in Ellerton, Md., she was the daughter of Janeiro Routzahn of Boonsboro and the late Ross Routzahn.

She was a 1952 graduate of Middletown High School and a 1955 graduate of Washington County Hospital School of Nursing.

She worked at Frederick Memorial Hospital, Washington County Hospital, Vindabona Nursing Home and was a nurse supervisor for 26 years at Citizens Nursing Home prior to her retirement in 2002.

She was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in Frederick and a member of Twin Spires Quilters, a group that made quilts for Lutheran World Relief.


In addition to her mother, she is survived by her husband, Paul J. Hummer, whom she married March 31, 1955; two daughters, Sarah E. Hisim of Frederick and Anne K. Massie of Tucson, Ariz.; two sons, Karl R. Hummer and Andrew P. Hummer, both of Frederick; three granddaughters; aunts; uncles; nieces; nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Robert E. Routzahn.

Services will be Monday at 10 a.m. at Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. David G. Oravec will officiate.

Burial will be Monday at noon in Boonsboro Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Keeney and Basford Funeral Home, Frederick.
