The Turners

Mr. and Mrs. David "Dean" A. Turner of Hagerstown celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Saturday, Dec. 28, 2002, at their home. The event was hosted by their children and spouses Jean and Bill Shank of Williamsport, Deb and Ron DeLauter of Woodstock, Ga., David Turner and Jenny Rowland of Hagerstown and Kelly and Matthew Jacobson of Smithsburg. Friends and relatives attended the celebration.

The Turners were married Jan. 10, 1953, at Trinity Lutheran Church by the Rev. Robert E. Hook.

Mrs. Turner is the former Geneva Doyle, daughter of the late Franklin and Geneva Doyle. She retired in 1992 from Maidstone Interiors.

Mr. Turner is the son of the late Hollie and Minnie Turner. He retired in 1992 from Statton Furniture. He delivers flowers for West Side Florists in Hagerstown.

The Turners have six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

The Buhrmans

Howard F. and Miriam (Leatherman) Buhrman celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary recently with a family get-together at the home of their grandson and spouse in Hanover, Pa. The reception was hosted by their children and spouses, Charles and Harriet Buhrman, Richard Buhrman, Nelson and Linda Buhrman and Rachel and Tom Hackenburg. One son and his wife, David and Cheryl Buhrman of British Columbia, Canada, were unable to attend. The Buhrmans have one deceased son, Nevin Lynn Buhrman.


The Buhrmans were married Valentine's Day, Feb. 14, 1943, at St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Wolfsville, Md., by the Rev. Ralph Miller, now deceased.

Mrs. Buhrman was employed by Morgan-Keller Inc., from 1959 to 1983.

Mr. Buhrman retired in 1980 from Pangborn Corp. after 27 years of service. After retirement, he hiked the entire 2,100 miles of the Appalachian Trail.

In addition to their five living children, the Buhrmans have 10 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and two step-great-grandchildren.
