John D. Hamilton

KEEDYSVILLE - John Delmas "Boonie" Hamilton, 90, of 3530 Trego Mountain Road, died Thursday, March 6, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born Nov. 2, 1912, in Mount Jackson, Va., he was the son of the late John Roy and Stella Frances Weatherholtz Hamilton.

He had been employed by Victor Products in Hagerstown and later was a barber for 30 years at the K&M Grocery Store in Chestnut Grove, retiring in 1995.

He was a member of Potomac Valley Volunteer Fire Department.

He is survived by his wife, Ida Elizabeth "Sis" McGowan Hamilton, whom he married May 3, 1935; three daughters, Beatrice Andrews of Chestnut Grove, Deloris Marshall and Barbara Hamilton, both of Hagerstown; three sons, Richard Hamilton of Tallahassee, Fla., George Hamilton of Smithsburg and Wayne Hamilton of Hagerstown; three brothers, George Hamilton of Dargan, Lloyd Hamilton and Paul Hamilton, both of Hagerstown; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Laura Hamilton, and one brother, Roy Hamilton.

Services will be Saturday at 10 a.m. at Bast Funeral Home, Boonsboro. The Rev. Gene Renner will officiate. Burial will be in Samples Manor Cemetery

The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, MD 21742.
