GLENELG, Md. - Allie Shannon scored 14 points and Amber Holian added 13 as Middletown (21-3) defeated Glenelg 46-40 in the Class 2A West semifinals on Thursday night.

The Knights will go on to play Walkersville in the 2A West tournament final.

Gina Casadei scored 12 points, D.J. Fernoy added 13 rebounds and five assists, and Chelsea Trout had six rebounds and three steals for the Lions (21-1). Koffi Harrison had five steals and Meredith Tehan added five assists in the victory.

ERIE, Pa. - Natasha Wheeler had 24 points and 11 rebounds for Broadfording as the Lions upset defending champion Coastal Christian in pool play of the National Tournament for Christian Schools.

Dee Brown scored 13 points and added six rebounds while Tina Conner had 12 rebounds for Broadfording.

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. - Kenton Shatzer led Heritage Academy with 23 points and seven steals as the Eagles defeated Salem Christian Academy in the ACSI regional semifinals.

Drew Kidd added 17 points for Heritage (22-8), which plays in the championship game today.

Salem International 87 Shepherd 60


CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Wykeen Kelly scored 22 points to lead No. 1 seed Salem International to an 87-60 victory over No. 9 Shepherd in the West Virginia Conference men's quarterfinals Thursday night.

Salem International (24-4) had no trouble in winning for the 12th time in 13 games, taking the lead for good on a layup by David Hamilton six minutes into the game.

Kelly, the league's player of the year, scored 15 first-half points as Salem breezed to a 47-30 halftime lead. Salem shot 63 percent in the first half and 57 percent for the game.

Shepherd got no closer than 14 in the second half. Salem used good ball movement to get open shots and push the lead to as many as 28 late in the game.

Chucky Fine added 18 points for Salem International, which is ranked 14th in the Division II national poll. Jason Dunham had 12 points and Hamilton scored 10.

Mark Jennings had 18 points to lead Shepherd (12-17), which was in the quarterfinals for the first time since 1998. Keith Fanjoy scored 14 and Keith Davis had 11.

Regular-season champion Salem International is seeking its first tournament title since 2000.
