Ruth O. Barnhart

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Ruth Olive Barnhart, 89, of Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit and formerly of Needmore, Pa., died Wednesday, March 5, 2003, at Fulton County Medical Center Extended Care Unit.

Born Jan. 16, 1914, in Needmore, she was the daughter of the late Scott and Sadie Y. Truax Mellott.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John McClellen Barnhart, in 1967. They were married Jan. 27, 1935.

She was a Stanley Home Products representative for 27 years and a homemaker.

She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hancock.

She was a member of Pal Club of Amaranth, Pa.

She is survived by one daughter, Sheila R. Mellott of Needmore; one son, Vernon J. Barnhart of Edenville, Pa.; one brother, William J. Mellott of Knobsville, Pa.; five grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one daughter, Dorothy H. Barnhart, and three brothers, Ulysses Mellott, Harold Mellott and Freddie Mellott.

Services will be Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Hancock. Bishop Gerald Hendershot will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren Cemetery, Needmore.

Visitation will be Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at Howard L. Sipes Funeral Home, McConnellsburg, where the family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m. Visitation also will be Sunday at 2 p.m. at the church.
