Clarence J. Lushbaugh

MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Clarence Junior "Junie" Lushbaugh, 88, of Mercersburg, died Tuesday, March 4, 2003, at his home.

Born Dec. 30, 1914, in Hagerstown, he was the son of the late Clarence J. Lushbaugh Sr. and Emma Baird Lushbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Helen M. Rickett Lushbaugh, in 1977.

He was a welder and toolmaker at Fairchild Aircraft for 35 years.

He was a semi-professional baseball pitcher with the Hagerstown Blue Sox/Old Exports and a member of the 1936 championship team.

He was a member of UAW of Hagerstown.

He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Caroline Virginia Conely Lushbaugh; two daughters, Barbara M. Hughes of Hopewell, Va. and Jo-Ellen Wheelhouse of Petersburg, Va.; one son, Terry E. Lushbaugh of Mercersburg; 12 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Patricia A. Weaver; and one brother, Ralph Lushbaugh.


Services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Gerald N. Minnich Funeral Home, North Potomac Street, Hagerstown. The Rev. Gayle L. Ruble Sr. will officiate. Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home.
