Outdoor store burglarized

March 04, 2003

CHARLES TOWN, W.Va. - Thousands of dollars worth of rafting merchandise was stolen over the weekend from Blue Ridge Ducks on U.S. 340, said a Jefferson County Sheriff's Department official.

Entry was gained into the business when a window was broken at the rear of the building, Cpl. Dave Colbert said.

Merchandise that was stolen included specialty paddles and a flotation vest that costs about $360, Colbert said.

Blue Ridge Ducks is located at Blue Ridge Outfitters, a whitewater rafting company between Charles Town and Harpers Ferry, W.Va., Colbert said.

It is believed the business was broken into between 7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m. Sunday, Colbert said.

Anyone with information about the theft can contact the sheriff's department at 304-725-3205.
