Edith P. Mellott


Edith P. Mellott, 92, of Beck Road, died Sunday, March 2, 2003, at Beverly Healthcare of Hagerstown.

Born May 13, 1910, near Smithsburg, she was the daughter of the late Jacob and Amanda Frey Cline.

Her husband, Emmert Mellott, died in 1978.

She was employed by the Jacques family of Edgemont and the Towson family of Smithsburg.

She was a member of Mount Bethel United Methodist Church in Foxville, Md.

She is survived by one daughter, Julie A. Barnhart of Leitersburg; one son, Paul R. Kline of Greensburg; one brother, Leroy Cline of Smithsburg; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at Davis Funeral Home, Smithsburg. The Rev. William C. Kercheval will officiate. Burial will be in Mount Bethel Cemetery, Foxville.

The family will receive friends Tuesday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.

Raymond B. Weinsteiger


MERCERSBURG, Pa. - Raymond B. Weinsteiger, 65, of 9285 Blue Spring Road, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at his home.

Born July 13, 1937, in Boyertown, Pa., he was the son of the late Benno and Anna Hensel Weinsteiger.

He was employed for 29 years by the Honeywell Co. of Phoenix. Since 1999, he assisted his son in the operation of the family farm.

He was a Catholic.

He is survived by his wife, Roseann Ziss Weinsteiger, whom he married Nov. 5, 1958.; two sons, Ronald R. Weinsteiger of Mercersburg, and Edward A. Weinsteiger of Pottstown, Pa.; one sister, Florence Yusko of Pottstown; one brother, William Weinsteiger of Pottstown; and three grandchildren.

Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, Mercersburg. The Rev. Joseph L. Stahura will officiate. Burial will be private.

Viewing will be Tuesday at the funeral home one hour prior to services.




Edna V. Cridler


BERKELEY SPRINGS, W.Va. - Edna Virginia Cridler, 77, of Berkeley Springs, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Winchester (Va.) Medical Center.

Born June 21, 1925, in Stephenson, Va., she was the daughter of the late James Clark and Pamma Etta Nesselrodt.

She retired from Vienna Appliance Sales and Service in Northern Virginia, and had worked for Safeway in Arlington, Va., and Annandale, Va.

She was a member of Francis Asbury United Methodist Church in Berkeley Springs.

She was a member of United Methodist Women and LST Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Courtney Lee Cridler; one daughter, Patricia Andrews of Charles Town, W.Va.; one son, Arthur Cridler of Charles Town; one sister, Iva Forshee of Nokesville, Va.; two brothers, Richard Nesselrodt and Ernest Nesselrodt, both of Winchester; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; great-nieces and great-nephews; and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Nina Johnson and Ina Nesselrodt; and four brothers, Lester Nesselrodt, Earl Nesselrodt, Hugh Nesselrodt and Ralph Nesselrodt.

Services will be Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church, Berkeley Springs. The Rev. Jim McMahan will officiate. Burial will be in Spohr Crossroads Cemetery.

Viewing will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Hunter-Anderson Funeral Home, Berkeley Springs.

Philena M. Ocker


Philena M. Dingle Ocker, 89, of 9946 Downsville Pike in Hagerstown, and formerly of Berkeley Springs, W.Va., died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Clearview Nursing Home.

Born Sept. 27, 1913, in Hagerstown, she was the daughter of the late Roy and Beulah Sprecher Fritz.

Her first husband, Paul E. Dingle, died in 1966. Her second husband, John J. Ocker, died in 2000.

She was employed by L'Aiglon Apparel Inc. in Hagerstown.

She was a member of Waynesboro (Pa.) Seventh-day Adventist Church.

She is survived by one son, Roy E. Dingle of Collegedale, Tenn.; four stepdaughters, Helen E. McAllister, Clearsey M. Nichols, Gloria J. Showalter and Martha J. Wiltrout, all of Hagerstown; one stepson, Robert E. Ocker of Franklin, Tenn.; three grandchildren; 21 stepgrandchildren; and 30 stepgreat-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Theodore R. Fritz and Joseph C. Fritz.

Services will be Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at Andrew K. Coffman Funeral Home, Hagerstown. Pastor Thomas L. Hennlein will officiate. Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery, Waynesboro.

The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.




George W. Harbaugh


George Washington Harbaugh, a resident of Beverly Healthcare of Hagerstown, died Saturday, March 1, 2003, at Washington County Hospital.

Born in Boonsboro, he was the son of the late Ira Irvin and Amil Mae Smith Harbaugh.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Zella Young Harbaugh.

He was employed by the State of Maryland.

He had three children. He is survived by nieces and nephews.
