Today's forecast - Playoffs as scheduled

With no snow in the forecast, Maryland high school basketball teams can finally look forward to playing their playoff games as scheduled beginning tonight.

Nine boys region quarterfinal games involving local teams will be played tonight, including two matchups of Washington County teams. All games begin at 7 p.m.

In the Class 1A West quarters, Boonsboro plays at Smithsburg, Clear Spring travels to South Hagerstown and Williamsport goes to Allegany, while in 1A South, Reginald Lewis plays at Brunswick.

In the 2A West quarterfinals, top-seeded Middletown plays at Howard, Walkersville goes to Fort Hill and North Hagerstown is at Glenelg.


Frederick and Thomas Johnson host 4A East games, with the Cadets playing South River and the unbeaten Patriots playing Arundel.

On Tuesday, the girls take their turn in the quarterfinals. In 1A West, Smithsburg travels to Beall, Boonsboro plays at Allegany and Williamsport plays host to Northern Garrett.

Poolesville plays at Brunswick and Catoctin goes to Forestville in the 1A South quarterfinals.

In 2A West, North Hagerstown goes to Fort Hill, Hammond plays at top seed Walkersville and Atholton plays at Middletown.

In 4A East, South River plays at Frederick and Meade travels to Thomas Johnson.
