Police seek male suspect in attempted abduction

March 03, 2003

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - Borough police in Waynesboro are looking for a man who tried to abduct a 16-year-old local girl Thursday morning as she walked in an alley behind the borough office building around 7:30 a.m., police said.

According to police, a white man about 40 years old wearing a camouflage baseball cap and a white, long-sleeved shirt with stripes down the side stopped next to the girl.

He yelled three times for the girl to get into the large white pickup he was driving, police said. Instead, she ran away and hid behind a shed until she was sure the driver had left the area, police said.

She went home, told her mother and both went to the police station to report the incident, police said.
