GIRLS BASKETBALL



EVERETT, Pa. - Southern Fulton (22-4) qualified to play for the District 5 Class A championship and move on to the PIAA state tournament with a 57-43 semifinals win over Northern Bedford on Tuesday night.

Bethany Mellott led the Indians in scoring with 14 points, while Jessie Wigfield grabbed nine rebounds.

FREDERICK, Md. - Thomas Johnson used a fourth-quarter comeback to maintain its unbeaten record (21-0) in a battle with Riverdale Baptist.

TJ's Thomas Richard had a conventional three-point play with 2:23 left to erase a 50-49 deficit and the Patriots clinched the verdict down the stretch with free throws.

Richard hit four 3-pointers and led TJ with 20 points, 11 rebounds and six steals. Demetris Bryant had 11 points and Drew Gaeng had six assists for the Patriots.

Ben Jordan scored 15 points, Dustin Bachtell had 13 points and Ryan Martin grabbed seven rebounds for Williamsport (10-11, 7-10).
