HEDGESVILLE, W.Va. - An 82-year-old man was killed early Saturday when his car was struck by another automobile while he was backing out a driveway, said West Virginia State Police.

Lynn G. Coffinbarger of Hedgesville was pronounced dead at the scene, state police said.

A witness said he saw Coffinbarger pulling out of a driveway onto Back Creek Valley Road about 8:26 a.m., police said.

A Camaro traveling at a speed of about 60 mph struck Coffinbarger's Chevrolet Cavalier on the driver's side, the witness told police.

The speed limit on the road is 35 mph, police said.

The witness said people in the Camaro exited the vehicle and ran from the scene toward the Tomahawk store, state police said.

Jacob Horner, age unavailable, of Hedgesville was arrested for felony leaving the scene of an accident involving death, state police said. Horner was being held Sunday night in the Eastern Regional Jail.

The Camaro had an improper West Virginia registration, no insurance and an expired inspection, state police said.

The witness to the crash said the Camaro passed him on a double yellow line on Back Creek Valley Road.
